Notice the use of "Special item" and not "hat" or "helm"? Yes apparently I can read because I read those two quotes. If you had thought I hadn't you wouldn't have posted them. Don't use your silly demeaning interwebz lingo on me, in the end it only makes you look immature.

Who is making the decisions over there? What the heck is their development plan for the game? Or are they making it up as they go along? Why would they not just make the collector trade an undedicated mini pig for the new mini? Notice I said undedicated...Why should you be able to trade a dedicated mini pig for a new mini anything? Give me the mini rat at the end of the festival like last year(they shouldn't cost an arm and a leg, they should be cheap and accessible) and find the developer for the hush, hush Mini Polar Bear debacle and (I'm sure he came up with this multiple pig transfer thing as well) and quickly escort him/her from the premises. I know the Lunar things will give a chance(I don't trust the percentages on lockpicks, why is this percentage going to be different) at a mini but come on last year I went through like 500 lunar whatevers and I didn't get a single mini pig.
I haven't been this upset with something going on in this game since the original "Dragon Festival" that was Factions owners only. The loot scaling situation was upsetting but this just doesn't make sense to me. I like every other good community GW member passed on all of my extra mini's to guildies who couldn't make the event or didn't play GW at the time. Thanks for trying to penalize those playing in the "right frame of mind" and awarding again those playing on the scamming borderline. Is it any wonder that there have been so many different exploits lately. Those individuals are being encouraged while the rest of us are being alienated.
Ok my rant is over but seriously fix this before friday please!!!

Ha! You completely contradict yourself!
First you say not to use my "interwebz lingo" because it makes me look "immature". I am guessing you are talking about "/owned" comment? Well you use "interwebz lingo" yourself...

You clearly use "interwebz lingo" in your first post on the matter.
Also, you say that Anet is "lazy" because they use the same hat. They aren't giving out the Lion Mask at the event Finale as pointed out in my Gaile quotes earlier.
You go on to say that...

I proved your wrong with this statement with my Gaile quotes above which indeed state that we get a second chance to get the Lion Mask and that second chance isn't the finale. And I also pointed out with the Gaile quotes that we get a "special item" from the finale which is "new this year".
Now if we go back to your last post and the first one we can cleary see your contradict yourself by saying that Anet is giving us the same hat as last year for the finale(first post) and then you go on to imply that you always knew that they were giving out a "special item".
So in conclusion, you didn't read those two Gaile quotes I made, because if you did then you wouldn't have come to Guru calling Anet "lazy".

3 mini pigs from last year.
pig 1 got early from celestial fortunes, ended up giving this one to a friend who started up in the game around july
pig 2 got from the event, gave this one to another friend who started up around september
pig 3 got from the event as well, sold this one for next to nothing sometime in june along with another mini just to get them to move
now I'm not missing the pigs, however, I do feel rather jipped now as I now have no chance at the "special prize" even though I was honestly lucky (getting one from the fortunes is serious luck) and got several pigs.
not really mad at anyone for this just kinda annoyed at myself that I didn't keep one of the ugly little brutes.
i would say it's "just my luck" but apparently I in fact have good luck being that I recieved more than one pig last year.

Right on the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly.
I want my FREE mini rat (see avatar) just like last year, since it seems everything else is going to be the same as last year (and I have about as much chance of getting anything decent from a lunar fortune as becoming president of the usa this fall).....so why the freeeeky heck would I even want to attend the finale if we arent going to get the mini and I already have the hat??????????????????????????????????????????????
WHAT IS THE POINT? (unless of course miss grey isnt telling us that it WILL be just like last year and the rats will be given out at the end....she has lied/not told the truth before!)
no I am not better now, but they had better fix this before it starts or they will have a few more angry gamers on their hands (and they speed at which they are pisssssing off their followers may mean there will be no gw2!)

You will note that we have extended the event to run through Noon Pacific time on Monday, so there's a bit of extra holiday joy to be had during this weekend celebration. Here are additional tidbits of information you might like to know:
* The Lion Mask (not the Dragon Mask, not the Tengu Mask) is the traditional headgear of the Canthan New Year. The mask will not change for the Canthan New Year Festival this year (or any other, I assume) because it is not the "end of event" gift. Unlike other festivals, the mask is something for you to acquire and enjoy during the festival.
* The Miniature Celestial Rat will be available only from Lunar Fortunes. You will not receive the miniature at the end of the event. (Naturally, you can trade for the mini.)
* The drop rate from the Lunar Fortunes has been increased over last year's Miniature Pig drop rate.
* The special reward for exchanging a number of Miniature Pigs from last year is only available through an exchange, it will not be given at the end of the event or through fortunes. (Naturally, you can trade for the mini.)
* Miniature Pigs accepted in trade my be dedicated or may be undedicated; that does not matter to the collector who is offering the trade.
* The quantity of Miniature Pigs needed to successfully complete a trade is named, by the Design Team, as, officially, "more than two and fewer than a dozen."
* This year, there is a new end-of-event gift that I think you'll enjoy. It's not quite like anything else in the game.
* Jade Wind Orbs are defunct and are no longer useful.
* Lunar Tokens are useful; they are the reward that you receive for the events and activities during the Canthan New Year Festival. You can also turn in Victory Tokens, as both collectors will be in place for the duration of the weekend, but the Lunar Tokens are this weekend's collectible item.
* Note: The Lunar Token Collector will close his shop and disappear for the year on Monday at Noon Pacific time. Please exchange your tokens before that time, or save them until next year.
* The Rollerbeetle Racing event will reward the top placers with special prizes. Speak to the NPCs to learn more.
* The festival "finale" will run throughout Sunday, Pacific time, from 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM Pacific time. Rollerbeetle Racing, Shing Jea Boardwalk, and other events will be in place another 12 hours, through Noon Pacific on Monday. However, the finale -- and the chance to score the end-of-event gift -- is available only on Sunday. (All times are -8 GMT.)
* In the meantime, I've been asked about the recipes, and I can't say if they have changed or have not changed, but I'd lean towards the latter. In that case, you can learn the recipes and get details on where to find the ingredients on the official wiki page for the Canthan New Year page from last year.

Guess I can summarize what can be concluded at this point.
As many people have criticized that Anet of being idiotic to make decisions like this, it isn't totally irrational to make these decisions. The reason is, as we all know, the previous event has given players a great number of miniature pigs, and so in this sense, developers have assumed that players must have kept these pigs, and so making a collector for these extra things seem to be more or less a positive addition to the game. However, the actual situation is, many people have either sold or gave away their miniature pigs, and so such a collector is more a negative addition to the game. Although it still seems fine that we can just trade in a pig for the new miniature, we are now told that we need more than 2 pigs for this exchange, and to make it worse, at this moment where many people are outraged, no exact information has given to give us a better approximate to what we want to do in this weekend.
Of course, I guess people can point out facts that life isn't always fair or how we can't expect much from an internet game, but the problem is, I don't believe Anet has made this many mistakes. It's just that recently, many of their decisions have created angry mobs on these fansites, despite the fact that people would constantly rant about anything. My point is, we are aware of the facts that Guild Wars 2 is coming aboard and Guild Wars is going to die, but it isn't very logical to upset the community so repeatedly to such extent.

Wow, first event I don't see a reason to bother showing up for - it looks like it's just been designed to frustrate/annoy. Think I'm going to sit this one out.
BTW, ANet - the mass of pigs you gave away last year was the best holiday gift you ever gave. Shame you want to take it all back.

Yes, instead of soothing situation this lack of information makes it worse ...
I wonder what amount of pigs will we need ... Seriously, if they make cut-off point at any number, people who saved less than X-1 pigs would be pretty mad ...
I saved 4 pigs, gave away about dozen to guildies/even random people. Will i be punished for this by having to have 5 pigs? I want to know at least this ...

Well I guess I'm not going to give away mini rats this year...
Btw Anet has shown a consistency in messing with the status of the game over these past years so it shouldn't come as a surprise.
I just hope they don't do that in GW2.
PS
Anet seriously if you create a economic/social model you let it find it's balance on it's own. You don't mess with it every chance you get because then it becomes a joke.
